Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

An ID document must show an applicant’s name to be valid. The only exception to this is if the passport shows the applicants maiden name – in that case, a UK marriage certificate can be used to support the application. Applicants often use their driving license or passport for ID Checks.

If the document is out-of-date then it isn’t considered a valid form of ID and can’t be used. The applicant should renew the document at the earliest possible opportunity to process the application.

You must see the original ID for the applicant you are checking, otherwise it’s not possible to determine whether it is a legitimate document. Photocopies or scans aren’t acceptable.

To complete ID Checks, you need to register with us and select the documents you want applicants to upload. Our ID Checks are integrated with Credas. It sends an invitation for applicants and employees to download a smartphone application and login using unique registration codes. The ID Checks will ask for a ‘selfie’ and uses biometric facial recognition technology to confirm that the self-taken picture matches the image on the ID document. Then it will be ask the applicant to upload the documents requested by the employer.
